Earlier today, chef Phil Vickery’s made a chip butty live on air, but left many rolling their eyes in disgust.

During the segment, Phil showed co-hosts Phillip Schofield and Josie Gibson how to make a variety of chip-based dishes, starting with the famed chip butty.

He explained that in his opinion, the perfect chip butty is made from white bread that’s been spread with butter, 12 chips placed on top, ketchup and then another piece of buttered bread.

Several people watching the show, however, questioned why this particular meal was being taught in the first place.

Alongside an emoji of an angry face, one person penned: “Are they taking the p**s telling us how to make a chip butty?”

Echoing their comments, someone else said: “Oh please. Do we really need to be told how to make a chip butty? Really?”

A third, meanwhile, remarked that it was like they were back in school, adding: “Who the hell can’t make a chip butty? Ridiculous segment.”
