CORONATION Street are in shock after the police arrested Rick Neelan’s killer.
In tonight’s episode Laura Neelan confessed to murdering her husband Rick to protect his real killer Gary Windass.
The investigator who Laura hired dropped the bombshell that the police are convinced Rick is dead and was murdered by Gary.
Meanwhile Gary couldn’t find a way to get to Rick’s body and ended up summoned back home for a meeting with Laura.
Gary realised Laura was onto him - and made a snap decision.
“You want the truth - I killed him,” he said, finally confessing to his crime.

Laura laid into him for lying about what he’d done - and lying to Kelly about it.
“She loved her dad, the man that you killed,” she said.
“It didn’t stop you worming your way into her life, allowing her to come to rely on you. How could you?”
“I wanted to make things right. Better, easier for her,” he insisted.

“I thought I could undo some of the damage he did and give some desperate people some relief.”
Laura vowed to expose Gary even if it was the last thing she did - but Gary opened up about what really happened.
And he told her why he continued to help Kelly after it happened instead of walking away.
He agreed to go to the police with Laura after telling her the body was going to be discovered at County’s new training complex.
“It’s only a matter of time,” he said.
“There’s no point prolonging the agony. It’s better for Kelly to get a fresh start wherever that may be.”
Gary asked to speak to Maria first to warn her about what was to come - and he ran to tell her.
But there was a bigger shock to come.
As the couple walked home, they ran into Kelly and they all went home to discover Laura in handcuffs being led into a police car.
Knowing she hasn’t got long to live, Laura decided to confess to murdering Rick to ensure that Gary would be around to look after Kelly.
Sobbing, Laura told her daughter: “I’m so sorry love, I had to do it. I had to do it for your sake, I’m so sorry. I love you.”
Kelly, Gary and Maria looked on in complete shock - and they weren’t the only ones.
Viewers couldn’t believe the bombshell twist.
One wrote: "Given that Laura Neelan is literally dying of cancer, she must be one hell of a brave woman to take the blame for Rick's murder for Gary."
