CRAIG Fairbrass was one of EastEnders' best-loved villains and, two decades on from leaving Walford behind, his career has continued to soar.

The 58-year-old, who has conquered the acting world since leaving the BBC soap 2001, has not been seen in Albert Square for 21 years - and he's barely aged one bit.

The Walford heartbreaker was 34-years-old when he first appeared on EastEnders in June 1999.

Playing "Dirty" Dan Sullivan, the love rat who cheated on Carol Jackson with her daughter Bianca, he was never far from trouble.

He may have only hung around for two years, but he left a mess behind after run-ins with Phil Mitchell and Steve Owen.

As one of those pointed the finger at in the infamous 'Who Shot Phil' plot line, his departure left a hole as he ended up where so many characters do - somewhere in Spain never to be seen again.

Since his departure, Craig has made a staggering 50 British and US films since - and he's even bagged an award or two along the way.

In 2017, he reprised his role of Pat Tate in Rise of the Footsoldier 3: The Pat Tate Years, a prequel to the 2007 original.

It proved to be Fairbrass's most powerful performance to date, winning him the best actor award at the 2018 National Film Awards in London.

Even more impressively, the London-born actor has set his sights on Netflix stardom after bagging three top ten films on the streaming platform within the last year.

Proving to be the jack of all trades, Craig has also contributed as a writer, producer and voice-over artist.

Most notably, he provided his iconic voice to major characters such as Gaz, Ghost and Walcroft in Call of Duty, the world's best-selling video game franchise.

Reminiscing on his stellar career so far, Fairbrass recently spoke to the  and revealed how he's got to where he is today.

"This is the ficklest business there is, you have to keep moving," he affirmed.

"You get knocked back and you get up again. It’s about taking chances and having belief in yourself.

"It’s not easy, so many good actors aren’t acting anymore. I’ve had a career in films and I’m grateful, but there were dark times."

Craig also believes his career is living proof that "dreams can come true" - and urged people to fight for something if they want it.

He concluded: "If you want something you’ve got to fight for it, the world doesn’t owe you a living.

"I made it happen. I was like a dog with a bone, I wouldn’t let go."
