KILLING Eve viewers complained about the "confusing" storyline in series four, with some saying it should have ended after season three.

BBC One fans have tuned in for the past few weeks as they watch Villanelle (Jodie Comer) try and fail to repent for her sins, while Eve (Sandra Oh) swaps roles as the assassin.

Both are separately trying to track down the 12 to get revenge for the havoc the secret group has had on their lives.

The penultimate episode featured some critical flashbacks to the formation of the elusive 12, which uncovered the bombshell that former MI6 agent, Carolyn, and Villanelle's former handler, Constantin, were founding members.

The episode saw Villanelle also turning back to her paid mercenary days, this time knocking off the husband's of women in the small Spanish town where she's staying before tracking down Constantin in Margate.

Meanwhile, Eve has kidnapped the daughter of Helene, the 12's gobetween, who then enacts her revenge by calling a hit on Eve.

The show ends on a massive cliffhanger as Helene traps Eve in the car and forces her to watch Villanelle get shot in the back with an arrow.

With only one more episode to go before the series ends forever, fans were very confused with what was happening.

"I've accidentally watched #KillingEve can someone catch me up on wtf is going on?" complained one fan on Twitter.

Another added: "Nah... I don't get it. This episode of killing eve is more confusing than any of the others and I'm lost."

And a third wrote: "Absolutely loving #KillingEve @BBCOne Haven’t got a bloody scooby what’s going on, never had, but loving it."

In the latest episode, Carolyn takes a walk down memory lane both in the form of flashbacks and trying to track down the original 12.

It could be the biggest hint yet that the character will get her own spin-off after actress Fiona Shaw has not yet refused the possibility it happening.

Speaking on the Reasons to be Cheerful podcast, she mentioned that a spin-off series could be in the works.

This time, it would be solely focused on Carolyn's life as head of the Russia Section at MI6.

Speaking of the rumours about a spin-off show, the former Harry Potter star said: "There is, I hear them all the time, and people do talk to me about them."

"At the moment, I'm busy doing something else", she admitted, "and I have a few other things coming up."

"Maybe if it lingers, I certainly would think about it because I enjoy her and I miss her so much already."
