CORONATION Street fans were left double-taking after mistaking a new character for an exisiting troublemaker on the ITV soap.

While some didn't make the mistake, some couldn't believe how alike the two separate actors were - and for good reason.

Many viewers mistook Oscar for David Platt's teenage son Max Turner and quickly took to Twitter to air their thoughts.

Alongside an emoji of a confused face, one person penned: "I thought that was Max for a second.

Echoing their comments, someone else questioned: "Why does Oscar look like Sam’s cousin Max?";

While a third added: "Oscar really looks like Max, doesn't he?"

It was after the episode that Sam actor Jude revealed all on his real-life brother making a cameo alongside him.

Sharing a scene from the soap, Jude posted on Twitter: "When it was bring your brother to work day.

Jude also posted an image of them together on the set on his Instagram, writing: "Showing my brother the ropes."

Viewers took to social media over the moment and Jude's confession that he and the actor playing Oscar were related in real life.

One fan said: "Good for you, nice to see Zach have a small part in your Corrie experience."

Another gushed: "It's so cute that your brother has a role in Corrie. You're both brilliant."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
