EASTENDERS fans have spotted a major blunder as Sam Mitchell meets her estranged son Ricky after six years.

The businesswoman - who is played by actress Kim Medcalf in the BBC soap - made her comeback to Walford on Monday's episode.

In a preview clip ahead of tonight's instalment, Sam finally comes face-to-face with her own son - but has no idea it's him.

She returns to Albert Square and it's not long before she's ruffling a lot of feathers.

She emerges from a taxi while Ricky and his group of friends are playing football.

The ball accidentally hits Sam on the back of the head, so the fiery Mitchell decides to burst the ball to teach them a lesson.

Unaware that her son is stood right in front of her, Sam proceeds to kick the ball back and warns: "Now get lost...or it will be you next."

But fans were baffled that Sam did not recognise her own son.

One wrote: "Look at that, Sam doesn't even recognise her own son. She's clearly not very maternal. #EastEnders"

Another posted: "You'd think she'd have seen photos or the Mitchell's would have kept her in the loop since they're all about 'family'."

A third commented: "You're telling me that Sam didn't recognise her own son and vice versa? Awkward."

"So she doesn't recognise her own son? Jack don't send pictures to the kids mum now and then no?," another questioned.

On Monday's episode, Sam was drafted in by brother Phil to sort out the family business.

After tricking Keeble into giving him his breakfast, Phil continued to buy time.

Eventually he gave up the game and told Keeble she’d never get anything from him - and that he had to be back in prison to receive a visitor.

Later in the visiting room all eyes went to Sam as she strutted over to Phil.

Wearing a minidress Phil couldn’t help but laugh.

He told his sister: “Mum would’ve dragged you back in the house for wearing that.”

Sam replied: “Never mind that you’re getting done for murder, I’d still be the one in trouble, wouldn’t I?”

“It’s good to see you Sam,” smiled Phil.

“Yeah it’s good to be back,” she said in return.

And while it was only a brief scene, EastEnders fans are over joyed for Sam’s return.

One wrote: "Now that's what I call an entrance! "

A second said: "My PERFECT QUEEN IS FINALLY BACK."
