WHO DARES WINS

Ant Middleton’s novel about a military man seeking revenge to be made into a TV series

ANT Middleton's star continues to rise despite being booted off SAS: Who Dares Wins last year.

The former Special Forces soldier, who was axed over his “personal conduct”, is about to have military thriller Cold Justice adapted for TV.

He has made £4.5million since leaving Channel 4 and now a string of production companies are vying to buy the rights to his book.

A source said: “When Ant was axed from SAS it was all so public that I’d not have been surprised if he gave up on telly altogether.

“But somewhere along the way he’s developed a following for his outspoken, no-nonsense self-help chat and those same fans have lapped up his fiction debut.

“There’s no denying that Cold Justice – which is about a military man seeking revenge after getting pushed out of his job under dubious circumstances – will make a great TV show.”

Will on a downer

POP Idol winner Will Young still struggles with no longer being one of Britain’s top entertainers.

Just recently he was floored after standing in on Jo Whiley's Radio 2 show – then getting told his services were not needed any more.

Will won the singing contest in 2002 and went on to have a string of chart hits.

During Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast, he said of his Radio 2 blow: “I was really upset.

“I do a really good job on that show and it took me about four hours to be like – this was the process – get dropped.

“I was like, mother f***er! Then the feelings . . .  it’s all going wrong now, and what am I gonna do when I’m 60?”

I’m guessing he’ll still be feeling sorry for himself.

A Lotte of pomp

THE eagerly awaited Bridgerton spin-off series Queen Charlotte will get off to a gloomy start.

One of the first scenes is this grand funeral procession where the royal matriach, played by Golda Rosheuvel, is seen deep in mourning.

At the heart of a cortege is a red coffin which looks just like that of Princess Amelia , the 15th child of the queen and her husband King George III.

She died in 1810, the third of their offspring to do so. But the princess was said to be her father’s favourite and her death is said by some to be what sent the king mad.

It changed Charlotte’s life for ever and ushered in the Regency period, when Bridgerton is set. Much of the action in the new Netflix drama prequel is seen in flashback.

I revealed that Line Of Duty actress India Ria Amarteifio would play the queen as a young girl in the series.

Filming has just started and we can expect it to hit our screens early next year.

Daniel's crown Bowles

THE Fox dynasty may have a monopoly on keeping acting in the family.

But wait until you see who is playing Andrew Parker Bowles in the next series of The Crown this autumn.

I can reveal the part is to be taken by Daniel Flynn , who many people will know as Superintendent John Heaton in The Bill.

He also happens to be the older brother of Jerome Flynn of Soldier, Soldier and Game Of Thrones fame – and of course one half of Nineties chart-toppers Robson & Jerome with Robson Green.

His half-brother is Johnny Flynn, who has appeared in Netflix film The Dig, BBC1’s Les Miserables and is in new film Operation Mincemeat. All three are the sons of late British actor Eric Flynn.

Coming from a family where most of you have the same job is ideal if you are in a drama about the royals.
