The former escapologist, 42, says his injuries are "likely" to be permanent as he opened up about his diagnosis.
Speaking about the incident, Jonathan's fiancée actress Amanda Abbington, 48, revealed: "He fell 30 feet and lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades, shattered both legs.
"Third degree burns, broke his spine and severed his spinal cord and, nearly died. And then on the operating table, he nearly died again."
Despite the life-altering injuries, Amanda explained he has remained "positive and upbeat and so strong".
"His courage and his strength is something that I just aspire to be like. He's just incredible, honestly, like so happy, just like a very happy, positive human being, just liquid sunshine. He's amazing."

How does the BGT golden buzzer work?
The golden buzzer is on the judges’ panel which, when pressed, means you are automatically granted a place in the Semi-Finals.
This will mean they will skip past the boot camp stage of the competition, ultimately giving them a head start.
Each judge, and hosts Ant & Dec have one opportunity per series to press it for any act they deem as worthy.
The golden buzzer was introduced in series eight, and has been an integral part since.
Who are the judges this year?
Britain’s Got Talent will see the return of the judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams giving their verdict on each act that comes before them.

Toby, 11, added: "We kind of just say to ourselves, 'we know we're better than them'. But boys can dance if they want to, it's not going to affect anyone else and they're just people that are jealous of you."

He continued: “If you have a great idea and believe you can make it happen, there’s always the chance you can. This show is an example.
“It was dead in the water. I couldn’t get arrested with it.

“That’s the way thing happen sometimes I certainly wouldn’t have predicted then that however many years ago we’d be having a conversation like this still talking about a talent show.

Ant McPartlin begs act to stop
BRITAIN’S Got Talent host Ant McPartlin was seen begging an act to stop on last night's episode of the show.
The 46-year-old star, best known for mucking about in the wings during performances, asked acrobats the ‘Freaks’ not to continue.
The act sees black-clad performers using girls as skipping ropes before flinging them about the stage.
They then created a human tower by standing on each other’s shoulders and it became apparent they were going to throw one of the girls to the top.
A preview clip shows Ant looking on, shouting out of the wings: “Oh no no no no.”
Undeterred the girl is propelled many feet into the air where she is caught by the performer at the top of the ‘tower’.
The judges are seen breathing a sigh of relief the she didn’t fall – but that turns out to be short-lived as she is thrown back down.
