COUNTDOWN'S Rachel Riley was left in a fit of giggles today after the show's board spelt out a rude word.

The hilarious spelling came just a day after it was revealed that host Anne Robinson has quit the show.

But fans put exit on the backburner to laugh when one of the contestants spelt out "Up vaginas".

As they announced the spelling, she quipped to Jo Brand in Dictionary Corner: "We love vaginas don't we Jo?"

To which Jo cheekily replied: "Oh we love vaginas!"

Fans immediately took to Twitter chuckle at this hilarious spelling on the board.

COUNTDOWN

One tweeted: "Absolutely historic @C4Countdown moment. UP VAGINAS indeed!"

While this one said: "Oh do love a naughty word on the board! #countdown."

Another laughed: "Omg who’s watching Countdown?? “Erection” and “vaginas” within the space of 5mins LET ME BREATHE!"

Countdown viewers are often left giggling into their cup of tea by a naughty spelling on the wall.

Rachel was left blushing after a contestant on Countdown shared a very rude-sounding word on the pre-watershed quiz show.

After the 30-second timer was up, players Leigh and Craig shared the six-letter words they had each come up with.

Addressing Anne, Craig had answered with “enable” whereas Leigh had found the word “blouse”.

The Channel 4 presenter then looked over to Susie and asked: “What words did you get in the corner?”

Proudly revealing his winning answer, columnist Giles Coren chimed in: “Noshable!”

ANNE QUITS

Meanwhile, today it was revealed how host Anne has quit the show.

The former Weakest Link star, 77, became the first female to take on the role when she stepped into Nick Hewer’s shoes in June last year.

But she will leave after just a year in the Countdown hot seat - months after The Sun revealed her feud with co-star Rachel Riley.

Announcing her departure, Anne - who was the sixth host of the Channel 4 quiz show - told the : "I've had a blast hosting this wonderful show.

"And I stayed longer than I signed up for. Now it is time for an older woman to take the reins.

"I hope too I've encouraged TV bosses to realise that not all women at the wrong end of their seventies are in care homes playing bingo and watching conjuring tricks.

"In fact the genius of Countdown is that it's a brilliant way to keep the brain exercised. I run 5k most days of the week.

"And I can now do an anagram at twice the speed I could this time last year.

"But I have grandchildren, a large garden and a home in New York, all deserving more of my attention."

Anne will remain on our screens until the summer.

Channel 4 says her replacement will be announced in due course.

We revealed in November that Anne clashed with maths whizz Rachel, 35, over dressing rooms, make-up artists and wardrobe budgets backstage.

Channel 4 declined to comment at the time, but Anne later admitted: "I'm hard to please".
