The show won a BAFTA on Sunday

Since the ITV series started in 2009, the pair have been joined by fellow Chasers Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and most recently, Darragh Ennis.

The six Chasers take it in turns to appear on the show and go up against the team of four contestants, but Mark has revealed that while they’re all incredibly knowledgeable, there is a ‘pecking order’.

Speaking at the Oxford Union, Mark said: “I am privileged to know what our internal testing is like and there is a clear pecking order.

“Paul is brilliant. Very closely behind is me, then its Jenny, then Anne.

He continued: “Shaun has an IQ of 96 and was a barrister. Can you imagine what it was like trying to be a barrister in the 1980s and 90s.

“He is such a hard worker and is a great quizzer. The problem is the 21st century has passed him by.

“Anything that involves him having to calculate he is trouble as he is 61 year old man and he does not watch telly.”

Mark concluded: “I would not like to face the ladies as their strength is not mine.”

During the discussion, Mark also revealed that the Chase producers are hunting for a female chaser who looks like a Love Islander but has the brains of Anne Hegerty and Jenny Ryan.

He said: “I call that Project Unicorn. I am not saying there are not any out there.

“TV is a very visual medium. TV will forgive almost anything except being boring.

“So many people say they are better quizzers than me and I say ‘I know you are’ but if you have a personality out there then there is a job for you.”
