BBC Breakfast viewers slam Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt for ‘wasting time’

BBC Breakfast viewers have slammed presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt for "wasting time" - after the duo made paper aeroplanes while on air.

The hosts were discussing the Paper Airplane World Championships, which sees paper engineers get together to compete in categories like distance and aerobatics.

But fans were quick to brand the segment "insane" as Naga and Charlie began folding paper around the red sofa.

Charlie sounded a little grumpy as he explained: "Inevitably, we have all been set the task of building a plane," as Naga admitted she was "useless" at making paper aeroplanes at school.

Viewers thought the segment was a "waste of time" and quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Alongside an array of confused faced emojis, one person penned: "It's not fair to make your viewers endure fake jollity whilst said aeroplanes fail. Embarrassing."

Echoing their comments, someone else said: BBC Breakfast presenters making paper planes on live television. What is the BBC doing?"

While a third remarked: "How about ditching trite nonsense like this? Woeful presenting."

However, other viewers were loving a bit of a shake-up in the studio, hailing the segment "comedy gold".

Another praised: "Watching Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt try to make and fly paper aeroplanes on BBC Breakfast has made my morning."

Even weather presenter Matt Taylor joined in on the action online, sharing a video with his fans of his own attempt at making a plane - which made it a fair distance along the corridor.

He joked with fans: "In my defence, holding a camera steady and throwing a paper plane at the same time shows some considerable talent."
