I was on Geordie Shore – bosses used these sneaky tricks to set me up and edited out raunchy scene with famous co-star
IT'S the show that took hardcore boozing, scandalous on-screen sex and furious feuds to a new level - but now Geordie Shore is coming to an end after 11 years.
The raunchy reality show, which launched the careers of Charlotte Crosby, Gaz Beadle and Vicki Pattison, will “close its doors for good” after one final TV special.
A source told us that former cast members will recap their “best and worst times” from the 22 seasons, and over the years there's been even more drama behind the scenes.
Here, 2021 alumni Robbie McMahon, 29, shares his scandalous memories from Geordie Shore, revealing the sneaky tricks producers use to put the show together.
‘I stripped in the audition’
Robbie, from Harrow, London, was approached by Geordie Shore casting agents and after multiple interviews had a face-to-face meeting.
“They asked me if I had been partying through the lockdowns and if I was still up for drinking and fun,” he told The Sun.

“You have to play up to your character, I showed up in my leather jacket acting like 'the bad boy' and even took my top off during the interview.”
Before entering the house, Robbie had to do a range of medical tests to check for STIs and more - but he suspects they were really “looking for steroid or hardcore drug use”.
He spent weeks without a response from the team before being confirmed for the show and then had to isolate in a Newcastle hotel room for 18 days to ensure he didn’t have coronavirus.

In Robbie’s debut episode, he was shown entering the house and meeting his fellow co-stars, but a lot more happened that night, which didn’t make the final cut.
He said: “It was wild, they were all playing a game, which started with normal stuff like my age and who I was attracted to.
“But then there was a competition where the girls gave me a lapdance.
"I took my top off straight away as I had been training and dieting for months, so knew I looked great.
“I said Chloe Ferry won, even though she couldn’t dance, because I really fancied her.
"She was fooling around and her boobs were going everywhere and weirdly, they edited all of that out for whatever reason.”
‘Forced to date’
Robbie claims producers instructed who he should chat up and go on dates with, which unfortunately spelled trouble.
He recalled: “They told me to make an effort with Amelia Lily and I was like, ‘Ok, cool, I’ll play ball’, so I went up and complimented and said her pink hair was edgy.
“We ended up going on a date and I got plastered, I had so many expresso martinis because it was a free bar and so I kept chucking them down.
“The conversation with her wasn’t the best and at one point, producers interrupted to say I’d been waffling for the last hour and needed to slow down on my drinking.”
How I cheated drinking ban
After Robbie’s disastrous date, he was put on a drinking ban but managed to get around it thanks to his sneaky co-stars.
“We had a party that night and were filming late, so I asked some of the boys to smuggle me drinks. When the producers asked I pretended it was Coca-Cola,” he said.
While Robbie managed to dodge restrictions that night, he claims the cast were refused alcoholic drinks after midnight.
He recalled: “The limits on alcohol didn’t go down well, I remember one person kicking off and shouting, ‘Forget this, I’m not doing this if we can’t have booze’.
“It was too controlled and felt silly to stop the alcohol as there would have been more drama especially because we were up until 1am."
‘They made me show villain’
Robbie became seen as “the villain of the show” after his date with Amelia didn’t go to plan and he “made a beeline for Chloe” immediately after.
“Everyone took a disliking to me after that," he said. "But I never chose to go on a date with Amelia, the producers made me do it.
“It was like I was engaged to her and was her property, but I didn’t like her and I was there to date, which is why I went after Chloe.
“I'd rather be me than be in some fake relationship, there were no hard feelings with Amelia, she just wasn’t my type.”
Staged scenes
Robbie claims there are a few sneaky tricks used by the Geordie Shore camera crew to ensure continuity.
He said: “In the morning they go from bunk to bunk, putting the camera by you and say, ‘Can you pretend to go back to sleep again?’
“After that, they get you to talk about the girls you like and your plans before being told there's an announcement hours later.”
Robbie was “a bit disappointed” because there “wasn’t a lot to do” and often he was left waiting around the house for the majority of the day.
When the cameras were on there were two groups and they often made him film scenes like entering the house “quite a few times”.
Tactically voted off
Robbie believed it was that after finally bagging a date with Chloe, he was “tactically voted off” by other co-stars.
He said: “Half of the bloody cast loved Amelia so I lost votes there and then the boys who fancied Chloe obviously wanted me off.
“They saw me as a threat because I looked good, I’d been training for ages and watching my diet, and some of the guys had beer bellies.
“I was caught up in Chloe’s drama really, she was laughing about it all and obviously wasn’t interested in them.
“She was playing them off against each other and trying to find ways to wind them up, she’s really smart.”
Fight is on
Despite his shock exit from Geordie Shore, Robbie’s not given up his dream of becoming a reality TV star and has also taken up a new hobby too.
On June 24, he’s due to face off with Katie Price’s fiance Carl Woods in Celebrity MMA at the OVO Arena, in Wembley.
Recently, Robbie fanned the flames saying his opponent wouldn’t “go [the] distance” and slammed his ‘lack-luster' training schedule.
