Piers Morgan slams Eurovision as a ‘rigged farce’ after Ukraine’s ‘predictable landslide’
PIERS Morgan has slammed the Eurovision Song Contest as a “rigged farce” after Ukraine took home the trophy last weekend.
The Talk TV presenter – who hosts his own show called Uncensored – called out the country’s win as a “predictable landslide”.
Piers, 56, reacted to the news that Kalush Orchestra from Ukraine was crowned the winner of Eurovision on Saturday night.
The former Good Morning Britain star blasted that the result was “rigged” due to Russia’s military assault on the country.
“And the 12 points from all of Europe goes to – Ukraine, well obviously, and quite right too I hear you cry,” he told viewers.
“It’s been heralded as a triumph of good over evil, a stunning show of sympathy and solidarity for the embattled Ukrainians in their hour of need, a much-needed smack in the face for Vladimir Putin.

“If the victory does indeed bring some cheer to Ukrainians during this desperate time for their country, honestly I’m fine with that.
“But why do we have to pretend it’s a song contest?”
Piers went on to joke how Ukraine’s “mine-sniffing hero dogs” could have “barked the national anthem” on stage “and still won”.
“I’m afraid this predictable landslide was a gigantic piece of unctuous Euro virtue-signalling,” he went on to scathe.
“It’s the TV equivalent of people sticking a Ukrainian flag on their Instagram with a hug emoji and thinking, ‘We’ve done our bit’.”
“I’ve always loathed Eurovision because I hate all the absurdly partisan political nonsense behind the voting,” Piers concluded.
“This latest rigged farce has merely cemented that view – and of course it won’t do anything to help defeat Putin.”
The two-minute-long Eurovision rant also saw him hit out that he believes the UK’s Sam Ryder should have won the show.
“It stopped Britain winning when we had a far superior singer, which last time I checked, was the criteria of a singing contest,” he said.
Piers also scathed about the result on Twitter after it was announced, suggesting that Ukraine had a “sympathy vote”.
“Nobody who voted for Ukraine thought it was the best song because it obviously wasn’t anywhere near the best,” he wrote.
“They got the sympathy vote, which is fine so long as we drop the word ‘contest’ from Eurovision.”
HEART-WRENCHING MUSIC VIDEO
It comes after Kalush Orchestra were crowned the winners of Eurovision 2022 on Saturday night by a landslide vote.
Following the show, the band were seen performing in war-torn Ukrainian cities in a powerful new music video for their track Stefania.
The touching clip was released just hours after the band’s incredible landslide victory – showing children reuniting with their parents.
The music video was filmed in the war-ravaged cities of Borodyanka, Irpin, Buch and Hostomel and shows a female soldier carrying children through destroyed cities.
The release was reportedly delayed to avoid accusations of politicising the singing competition.
It comes as band frontman Oleg was spotted kissing his girlfriend before heading back to the frontline to fight Putin’s butchers.
