I was on The Chase – there’s a reason our reactions look fake on camera and its all the bosses’ fault
A FORMER contestant on The Chase has revealed why players' reactions on camera can look 'fake'.
The ITV quiz show hosted by Bradley Walsh has been on air since 2009 and each episode features four members of the public who do not know each other beforehand.
As each of them takes on a Chaser, the camera often pans over to the other contestants and sometimes catches some unusual expressions.
In a Reddit post, a former contestant, under the user name DJ_Black_Ted_Danson, gave an insight into the filming process and what goes on behind the scenes.
He wrote: "Two-time game show contestant here (Millionaire and The Chase).
"What both shows have in common is that they often had me re-shoot reaction shots because of poor camera angles or host miscues.

"So, when I inevitably got a question wrong, my stupid pouty face and "aw shucks" response was quite possibly a result of 5 or 6 "okay, DJBTD, let's try that again…"
He continued: "I never actually said, "aw shucks," for the record. It was more of a guttural sound, like when you put your hand on an electric stove without realize it had been turned on by the previous occupant of the Marriott Hotel room they put you up in."
The ex-contestant also commented on Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, who must have been The Chaser he took on during his episode.
He wrote: "Mark Labbett. Dude's an actual Beast. 6'7, 350.
"Didn't meet him for more than 30 seconds. He didn't seem too interested in small talk."
The Chase fans were left stunned this week when they realised the show will be off air all week and replaced by Lingo.
However, this is because a new series of Beat The Chasers is airing each evening.
Sadly Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty was not able to take part in filming this series, and has been replaced by Australian Chaser Issa Schultz.
