The Gold cast: Who stars in BBC crime drama?
THE BBC has announced an all-star cast for new gripping true-crime series The Gold.
Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville leads the A-List line-up in this BBC One drama.
Who stars in BBC One's The Gold?
Hugh Bonneville
Actor Hugh is one of Britain's leading TV stars, thanks to his role as Lord Grantham on Downton Abbey.
His early life saw him study theology at Cambridge University, but he began his acting career when he joined the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.
As well as TV, Hugh has appeared in a number of films including Notting Hill, Tomorrow Never Dies and Paddington.
In 1998 he married Lulu Evans and the pair have a son together.

Jack Lowden
Scottish actor Jack has seen his star soar thanks to roles in hit TV shows Small Axe, and Slow Horses.
He also starred in World War One drama The Passing Bells, and featured in the BBC's adaptation of classic novel, War & Peace.
On the big screen Jack played the role of Collins, a Royal Air Force fighter pilot in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk movie.
Dominic Cooper
Dominic caught film fans' attention in The History Boys and Mamma Mia back in the early 00s.
After this the movie roles poured in, and he has played Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger and Agent Carter, as well as Milton Greene in My Week With Marilyn.
On TV, the actor is also known for fronting gritty action-packed series Preacher.

Tom Cullen
Hugh's fellow Downton star Tom joins him in The Gold.
The actor got his first movie role in 2002 thriller Daddy's Girl while still studying for his degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
But his big break came with 2011 indie movie Weekend, directed by Andrew Haigh and also starring Chris New, about a casual relationship between two men.
Since then he has starred in Becoming Elizabeth, and also Black Mirror.

When is The Gold on TV?
Filming only started for The Gold in May 2022, so viewers still have quite a wait.
The series is likely to air either in winter 2022, or in early 2023.

The Gold is written by Neil Forsyth (Guilt, Eric, Ernie & Me) and directed by Oscar-winning Aneil Karia (The Long Goodbye) along with Lawrence Gough (The Last Bus, Snatch, Misfits).
The drama tells the story of how on November 26, 1983, six armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near London’s Heathrow Airport, and inadvertently stumbled across gold bullion worth £26m.
