The Italian hunk, originally from Rome, Italy, who now lives in Manchester, was introduced to the Love Island cast last night.

It was dramatically revealed that Davide would have just 24 hours to figure out which of the girls he wanted to couple up with.

Tonight, he got busy getting to know each girl, pulling Tasha Ghouri, Paige Thorne and Gemma Owen for separate chats through the day.

He kept his cards close to his chest before getting a text late into the evening that it was time to gather around the firepit for recoupling.

The tense re-coupling saw Davide opt to couple up with footballer Michael Owen's daughter Gemma, 19 - much to everyone's surprise.

It meant she was stolen away from her original boy - Welsh personal trainer Liam Llewellyn, 22 - who looked gutted at the news.

Fans took to Twitter to react to the shock re-coupling, admitting they were furious with the result.

One wrote: "Oh my god Davide no, she's basically your younger sister."

A second agreed: "I'm feeling sick because Davide picked Gemma," while a third said: "She's just head over heels for Davide's looks..."

"Can they just send Gemma and Davide home," a fourth chimed in.

While a fifth concluded: "Yeah let's vote out Gemma and Davide together I'm ready for them to be GONE and it's Day 2."

Last night, fans of the show were certain things would be hotting up between Davide and Gemma after they shared a cheeky kiss.

The smooch came just hours after the public matched Gemma with Welshman Liam - but the dressage expert wasn't keen on her choice.

A body language expert ruled that the kiss - which came as part of the sexiest show launch ever - hurt her former partner Liam.

Speaking on behalf of , Darren Stanton said: “Liam appears to be a genuinely nice guy and while he obviously gelled with Gemma at first.

"She hasn’t connected with him in the same way he has her. Her sights are firmly fixed on Davide, as we saw in the first task when she chose to kiss him instead.

“As Gemma kissed Davide a micro-expression of fear flashed across Liam’s face, as he realised her true intentions.

" From his facial expression, it’s clear to see that Gemma’s action hurt Liam very deeply and a lot more than he let on."

Those at home were left uneasy for other reasons - as they fumed that the kiss was "wrong" due to the age gap between the stars.

Some threatened to complain to broadcast regulator Ofcom while others want show bosses to up the age of contestants next year.
