But as he showed off its swish giant video wall, robotic 'Scandinavian technology cameras' and huge interactive screens, fans all had the same complaint - the cost.

Taking to Twitter, taxpaying One Show viewers were quick to moan about the way their BBC licence fee has been spent.

One tweeted: "Gosh how much did that all cost and who paid for it. …. Let me think. Oh yes , us."

Another asked: "Can we vote to not have all the new bells and whistles and have a reduction in our licence fee?"

And a third stated: "And this is what my licence fee goes towards, ... and thoughts? ...";

It is the first time in 10 years that the BBC News studio has been revamped.

Located in New Broadcasting House in London, it will also be reconfigured for special news events such as elections.

Beeb bosses have ensured the new studio is better for the environment too, as it uses less power thanks to new LED lighting.

During his tour with Alex, Huw said: "The studio allows us to do much, much more than anything we've done before.

"It's is all about being modern, it's all about making a better programme, it's all about telling stories in a different way."

One fan welcomed the revamp, gushing: "Wow. ABSOLUTELY WOW. What an ABSOLUTELY STUNNING new set for #BBCNews."
