How to sign up for Squid Game: The Challenge

NETFLIX is turning its hit drama Squid Game into a spin-off reality TV show.

Fans can also get involved in the series where a huge prize is up for grabs.

When is Squid Game: The Challenge series?

Streaming giant Netflix has created a spin-off show from the original 2021 worldwide hit with Squid Games: The Challenge where fans get to take part.

While the TV show depicted bloody contests where competitors were killed off, in this version those taking part won’t end up dead.

The news, which was revealed at the Banff World Media Festival in Canada on June 14, 2022, comes just after it was announced there would be a sequel of the original Squid Game drama series.

No date when Squid Game: The Challenge will air has been announced although filming is expected to take place in 2023.

People can apply either as a US, UK or global participant.

There are some conditions though.

Even though the show is a South Korean-language drama, the reality show is only accepting English language speakers.

Other requirements include a 21-year-old age minimum, ability to film for up to four weeks in early 2023, a valid passport for potential filming travel, and no professional affiliation to All3 Media Group and/or Netflix  - either as an individual or immediate relative.

Applicants must upload a minute-long video explaining who they are and why they want to be on the show, as well as saying what they would do with the money, if they won.

A minimum of two photos must also be submitted with the application as well.

What will happen in Squid Game: The Challenge?

The show is being billed as  the “biggest reality competition series ever.

It will feature 456 players taking part, each battling to bag the ultimate prize of £3.8m over ten episodes.

They will take part in trials similar to those featured in the show created by director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who's backed the new interpretation.

The Netflix press release states contestants will “compete through a series of games inspired by the original show - plus surprising new additions.”
