EastEnders fans open-mouthed as Shirley Carter punches Zack Hudson in the face in brutal scenes

EASTENDERS fans have been left open-mouthed after Shirley Carter punched Zack Hudson in the face in brutal scenes.

The character - played by Linda Henry - was far from impressed when she learned that Zack (James Farrar) had cheated on her granddaughter Nancy with Sam Mitchell.

The bombshell news came during a party at The Albert to celebrate Kathy Beale installing a plaque in Tina Carter's memory.

As Shirley and Nancy's dad Mick (Danny Dyer) glared at Zack, said: "I know it don't look good."

Nancy's half-sister Frankie retorted: "I mean it couldn't be any worse! I've been telling everyone how great you were!"

Meanwhile Shirley said: "Sam manky Mitchell."

As Zack came clean and apologised, Shirley added scathingly: "After everything we've been through...you jack it all in for that?!"

Zack looked and Nancy (Maddy Hill) and said again: "I'm so sorry", as her dad Mick stepped forward and said "You will be."

But before he could do anything else, his mum had marched over and punched Zack in the face.

As she stormed out, Shirley added: "I hope she was worth it....Mick you were far too slow."

Nancy and the rest of the Carters filed out, leaving Zack stood alone with a bloodied nose.

EastEnders fans immediately took to Twitter to discuss the latest punch up, with one writing: "Nice one Shirley 🤣 #Eastenders."

Another added: "Shirley showing Zack who the boss is! #Eastenders #BBC."

A third tweeted: "Zack deserved that punch although it was weak from Shirley 👏🏼👏🏼#EastEnders."

Zack spent the rest of the episode pleading for Nancy to forgive him, before getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him.

However the famous 'duff duffs' kicked in before Nancy could reply, so viewers will have to wait and see what her answer is.
