I was on Love Island and there’s a huge bedroom shake up on Fridays that’s never seen on camera, says Shaughna Phillips
LOVE Island bosses split couples up on Friday nights and make them sleep apart, according to show alum, Shaughna Phillips.
Shaughna, 26, starred in Winter Love Island in 2020, and has dished on the show's best-kept secrets, including the real reason couples are not allowed to sleep together on Fridays.
The cameras are switched off on Fridays, giving Islanders time to catch up on errands, but they aren't allowed to leave the villa for day trips such as in previous seasons.
“It used to be the case for the first few seasons, but I think as it was getting bigger and bigger, they couldn’t do that anymore because everyone was obviously watching it,” Shaughna told .
"So you kind of stop filming on a Friday - and then on Friday afternoon you can do your laundry, stuff like that.”
Love Island producers make sure the Islanders don't get bored on their days off, but they have to stick to a strict rule.
“Sometimes they’d give you inflatables in the pool and stuff - but you’re not allowed to talk about anything that’s going on, or anything like that,” Shaughna said.
One of the most revealing insights that Shaughna shared is that couples can't sleep in the same bed on Fridays, in case they have sex and the cameras miss it.

“You have to sleep in like, same sex couples that night, so they don’t miss anything, and then you start filming again on Saturday afternoon,” she said.
Shaughna has been keeping fans entertained with the behind the scenes secrets and described doing Love Island was saying it was like going "to war".
She slammed one of the favourite challenges as "the most vile thing" and described how she cried all day before having to do it.
Every season the Islanders' heart rates are monitored while they do sexy dances for each other, but they don't get a say in what they wear.

Shaughna was devastated to learn she had to wear a skimpy outfit and also claimed the results were fixed anyway.
“I cried from lunchtime to the minute I walked out [to dance]," Shaughna said on the Should I Delete That podcast.
"I said to them [show producers], ‘I will go out naked in nipple tassels, as long as you give me trousers, tights, or thigh high boots. I will do whatever you want’.
"And I was the only girl that had none of that. I said to them, ‘I might just walk. I can’t do this’.”

She describes the process as “so mean”, saying she begged producers not to make her wear a skimpy outfit: “I was crying, I was going, ‘Please, you don’t understand. Please.’
"I was really struggling with swollen legs because [of] the different altitude over there [South Africa]. I was crying because I felt like rubbish, I was crying because I was embarrassed.”
