Bridgerton fans open-mouthed by Love Island crossover NOBODY saw coming

IT isn't just sexual tension raising eyebrows among Love Island fans after the lastest episode of sun-soaked flirting.

When you think of the famous ITV2 villa you can almost hear the upbeat Ibiza bangers in the background.

With that said, it's no wonder fans suffered a case of whiplash when they were instead greeted with a classical rendition of a pop song last night.

During the brunch scenes an orchestral rendition of Harry Styles' song Watermelon Sugar was played, which fans recognised as the same track used in Netflix hit series Bridgerton.

Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: “Love Island's trying so hard to be Bridgerton right now with these tunes.”

Echoing their comments, another chimed in: “What ball are we attending to be hearing that Bridgerton music?"

While a third remarked: “Not Love Island trying to go all Bridgerton and playing a string cover of Watermelon Sugar over the brunch scenes."

Meanwhile, another person added: “I want a fully produced comedy sketch of a Love Island and Bridgerton crossover."

In last night’s episodes the Islanders enjoyed a couples' brunch and Luca and Gemma finally got to visit the Hideaway, while fan favourite pair, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, went on a date.

The Islanders also found out that the public have been voting - which of course sent ripples through the villa.

This soundtrack surprise comes days after fans claimed that Islanders Ekin-Su and Davide are morphing into Bridgerton’s Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma.

One user pointed out: “Davide and Ekin-Su belong on Bridgerton, from enemies to lovers."

Bridgerton shattered Netflix records with its mix of stunning visuals, sexual tensions and quick wit.

The show remains the most popular English language show on the streamer.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
