A TV insider said: “Every Doctor gets their own look every time they regenerate, and they always seem to have a very British edge thanks to the choices.

“Ncuti, who’s partial to an eccentric outfit himself, has recently said he’s having input into the Doctor’s clothes, so it’s not a surprise something as unconventional as wellies are in the mix.”

On podcast The Moon Under Water, the brainbox described himself as “a functional drunk”.

He added: “I used to be absolutely awful.

“I’d be the one who was crying at the end, or lose my temper.

“I’ve been thrown out of my own birthday party twice.

“I did a gig at The Comedy Store, on New Year’s Day 2001 it might have been, and loads of my friends came.

“And I got thrown out of the pub afterwards because I was accusing everyone of being racist and homophobic.

“These were my own friends – in one case, my own family.

“If you’re having a bad time, if you’re having to go home early, if you’re crying your eyes out, you’ve misjudged the pace.”

“I just kept putting my foot down. I didn’t really know how fast the car was and I suddenly looked and just went ‘wow, wow’.

“There was a car behind me and I’m thinking ‘what’s he in? He must want a race.’

“Turns out that was an unmarked police car. It was a hefty, hefty fine.”

Kerry ranted on the Paul Chowdhry podcast: “Why is it OK for Angelina Jolie to look like she’s been bent over?

“It’s OK to watch that in a film but if I show a bit of nipple, oh, that’s ‘poor kids’. What’s the difference?

“If I’m not on a red carpet earning millions at the Oscars then it’s not acceptable because I’m from a council estate. I don’t see the difference.”
