ROSS King was forced to apologise after a horrific on-air blunder during Lorraine’s breakfast show.

The Hollywood correspondent was left red-faced after announcing that legendary singer Tony Bennett was DEAD.

It came as the Scots presenter was reporting the latest celebrity gossip, live from Tinseltown.

He said: “The news that we’ve all been waiting for – Gaga is going to be in the next Joker movie.

“Of course, coming back will be the Joker himself – Joaquin Phoenix.

“It was the first R rated movie to make $1billion worldwide.

“This one is called Folie A Deux – translated that means ‘folly of two’ and it refers to a mental illness that is shared by two people in close association.

“Also, we hear that this one is going to be a musical as well.

“A teaser has just dropped – here’s Gaga, here’s the music, here’s cheek to cheek and here’s – of course – the song that we associate with her and the absolutely brilliant late Tony Bennett.”

However it took the 60-year-old a while to correct the hapless slip-up.

Looking flustered, he said: “Can I just also clarify, I did say ‘the late Tony Bennett’ – Tony has not yet passed away, sorry about that.

“He is still around and is still one of the greats, so apologies for people thinking that something had happened there!”

Meanwhile Lorraine Kelly has been tipped to appear in a major primetime reality show.

The breakfast telly star is odds on to waltz her way to the Strictly ballroom, with filming of the BBC hit only weeks away.
