SUNDAY Brunch viewers were left less than impressed as guest chef Elliot Kaye took to the kitchen to make some classic British dishes.

Elliot was in the kitchen alongside hosts Tim Lovejoy and Miquita Oliver to showcase three dishes from his new greasy spoon venture, Norman Café, which he co-owns with Richie Hayes.

However, many Sunday Brunch viewers were left feeling underwhelmed at what he had to offer.

Amongst his dishes were battered sausage with homemade brown sauce, beans on toast with Red Leicester cheese and sprinkle cake pudding.

Shocked at the simple offerings, many viewers took to social media to share their thoughts.

One viewer simply put: “Seriously?”

A fellow viewer added: “Beans on toast with white bread. Genius. What's next, milk on cereals?!?”

Another disgruntled viewer wrote: “Is this a p**s take. Sausage and brown sauce. Beans on toast. Sponge with icing. What's next, Weetabix?”

Elliot prepared the classic dishes for the hosts and his fellow guests which included Bananarama, Jack Holden, Lily Cole and Cat Burns.

Despite some viewers expressing their disappointment over the simple dishes, many were ecstatic to see such favourites being prepared and even shared their own thoughts on how to make the meals.

One viewer declared: “Oh yum sprinkle cake and pink custard! I need to go there. #Norman's”

Another added: “When it comes to beans on toast, for me the cheese has to go on the toast first and beans on top so the cheese melts.”

Speaking to Tim and Miquita, Elliot told of the vision of his newest culinary establishment.

The chef said: “We do breakfast, lunch classics, and we basically try and do honest food pretty good.

“It’s affordable food just done well, we make everything in-house."

Host Tim quizzed Elliot over his choice of bread jokingly asking: “What about the bread, did you think about going sourdough, rye?”

The chef replied saying: “Honestly, it never entered our minds, we’re kind of against it.

“You can’t go wrong with basic white bread, it works, and I’m a big believer in that, I love it.”

Elliot was not the only one a fan of the classic bread option as Bananarama star Keren Woodward agreed.
