BBC Breakfast's Nina Warhurst savagely swiped at her co-host Charlie Stayt about "needing improvement" during a segment this morning.

Nina replaced Thursday regular Naga Munchetty to present today's show alongside veteran Charlie - but things soon turned sour.

Sharing a selection of pictures from fans who turned "trash to treasure," someone had upcycled the stain glass panels on his son's old door and transformed it into a free standing frame.

Charlie already showed signs of confusion when looking at the picture, saying: "That still looked like a door to me, but yeah, I think that's is just in isolation isn't it?"

Nina then chimed in: "Yeah, I think it's got a shelf underneath it, very handy. I love that for your entrance hall of something."

The next photo was an upcycled chest of drawers as Nina quipped: "It's amazing what some paint can do."

A seemingly unimpressed Charlie added: "It's presumably still a chest of drawers, is it?"

"Yes but she's given it a lick of paint and put a new design on it," Nina responded.

After being shown a picture of a chair that had been given "quite a bit of colour," Charlie said: "Is that upcycling? Because that's just changing the material on a seat."

"To make it look better, yes, upcycling," Nina informed her co-host.

Charlie responded: "Okay," before Nina told him: "You bar is too high!"

Still confused by the concept of upcycling, the broadcaster stated: "I was thinking you were going to have a thing that was completely transformed into a different use entirely."

"Everything is in pristine condition in this studio," Nina claimed before letting out a huge giggle.

With a producer giving her an idea, she savagely clarified: "Male presenters, yeah."

"We'll ignore that suggestion that came in my ear just then," Charlie simply responded.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
