Rickard Stark

Lord Rickard Stark was the Lord of Winterfell, Warden of the North, and head of House Stark.

He was executed along with his eldest son and heir Brandon by the Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen.

Rickard was the father of Brandon, Eddard, Lyanna and Benjen Stark.

Both the Mad King and Rickard are grandfathers to Jon Snow.

Before him there was another Rickard Stark (or Rickon), and that’s how Game of Thrones and House of The Dragon become connected.

Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark

The late Lord Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark and his wife Cately had five children: Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon.

He was the head of House Stark, the Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, and later Hand of the King to King Robert I Baratheon.

Ned’s execution sparked the War of the Five Kings between Joffrey Baratheon, Robb, Renly Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, and Balon Greyjoy.

Benjen Stark

Benjen Stark was the First Ranger of the Night’s Watch and Ned’s brother.

He rescued Bran Stark and Meera Reed from wights after they escaped from the cave of the Three-Eyed Raven.

Jon Snow is the last surviving member of the Targaryen dynasty — although he does not know that.

He was raised to believe he was the son of Ned Stark and Wylla, when he is actually Aegon Targaryen and Ned’s sister Lyanna’s secret son.

At this point, Jon is the true heir to the Iron Throne.

Robb Stark

King Robb Stark was the eldest son of Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell and his wife, Lady Catelyn.

He was declared King in the North during the War of the Five Kings, after the execution of his father Ned.

Robb won many battles against the House Lannister, but eventually he and his mother were killed at the Red Wedding.

Sansa Stark is the eldest daughter of Ned and Catelyn.

She initially starts off with a very naive view of the world, but as time goes on, she becomes a more hardened.

Following the Battle of King’s Landing, Sansa declares the North an independent kingdom and is later crowned Queen in the North.

Rickon Stark

Rickon Stark was the youngest child and third son of Eddard and Catelyn Stark.

He was killed by Ramsay Bolton, after he shot him with an arrow during battle.

After the battle, Rickon’s body was brought to Winterfell and Jon ordered him to be buried in the crypts next to his father.
