ITS been eleven years in the making but Frozen Planet II is about to hit our screens. 

The iconic David Attenborough narrated documentary is set to share more secrets from the animals and nature of our frozen world but some of the stories come with some heart-wrenching scenes.

In scenes set to be featured on the update of the legendary documentary, viewers are set to be left heartbroken as a group of baby harp seals suffer the devastating effects of climate change. 

An arctic storm has devastating consequences for the seals who tragically get swept away to their deaths as a result of an intense storm. 

The BBC documentary is also set to tell even more gutting stories about what life is like for creatures in the world’s coldest communities. 

Viewers are expected to learn about the fluffy white seals that inhabit the area.

Sir David Attenborough announces epic TV return for new BBC series

The cute creatures, who have previously been exposed to killings in order to get their fur, face a new fight as a result of the harsh temperatures. 

In upsetting scenes the pups encounter fragmented ice which causes difficulties for them in order to survive. 

Series producer Elizabeth White spoke about the pups who had their weaning time slashed from five weeks to 12 days.

She said: “It’s the story of how a mum only has 12 days with her pup – it’s one of the fastest weaning periods in nature.

“They have this tiny amount of time together so she pumps it full of really rich milk and it gets very fat very quickly then it needs to learn to swim and she has to leave it to go off and feed.

“So that little seal is dependent on sitting on its ice floe while it builds up the strength to swim and moults its fluffy coat into an adult coat.”
