MUFFIN TO SAY

I was on Bake Off and here’s why you DON’T want anyone to talk to you

A FORMER Great British Bake Off contestant has revealed that contestants try to avoid chatting to the show's stars.

Dan Chambers appeared in the 2019 series of the cooking contest and has admitted that he did not like speaking to Noel Fielding and his then-co host Sandi Toksvig.

The hopeful was unfortunately sent home from the tent in week one and has now confessed that he found it "distracting" having to talk while baking.

Dan told : "You’re thinking, 'I haven’t really got time to speak to you' and you’ve got to be like, 'I’ve got to crack on with this'."

The self-taught baker, from Rotherham, was working as a support worker when he took part in the 10th series of GBBO.

He also admitted that Noel, who now co-hosts the show with Matt Lucas, could often say 'inappropriate' things.

"A lot of the things that he would say didn’t make it in because he would just say anything he wanted to and it might not have been quite appropriate," Dan added.

On Tuesday night, the 13th series of The Great British Bake Off got underway on C4.

It kicked off with Cake Week and the 12 bakers tasked with making a dozen small cakes for the Signature Challenge.

Next they took on the Technical Challenge, which involved a sponge cake.

For the Showstopper, the bakers had to reproduce a house that was close to their hearts, again using sponge.

Sadly it was Will who was the baker who didn't rise to the challenges, and was given the boot by Prue and Paul.

Speaking after his exit, Will said: "Somebody has got to go first and obviously I am disappointed but I am proud to have made it.

"There is obviously a lovely bunch of people that I have met, and I have got an experience that I can definitely talk about and share. I am proud of that."
