JONATHAN Goodwin has insisted that his near-fatal stunt during rehearsals for America's Got Talent: Extreme that left him paralysed wasn't his fault.

The 2019 Britain's Got Talent contestant claimed he "didn't do anything wrong" when an Instagram fan asked him to explain the cause of the tragic accident.

The escapologist refused to go into detail, but expressed he wasn't to blame.

The 42-year-old was crushed between two suspended cars while trying to escape a strait jacket upside down 30ft in the air.

Jonathan's fiancée, Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington revealed in May that her partner now uses a wheelchair after he sustained a number of serious injuries.

She explained: "He fell 30ft and lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades, shattered both legs."

"Third-degree burns, broke his spine and severed his spinal cord and nearly died. And then on the operating table, he nearly died again.

"Unless there's a kind of stem cell surgery, or that thing that Elon Musk is designing with the little chip, he'll be like that forever."

In May, Jonathan shared a post on Instagram, saying that his dog, who finally got to see him again for the first time in six months, was getting used to him having "cool, new, wheels".

He penned: "Six months ago, I went to rehearse for something and left this little hair monkey waiting patiently for me.

"He didn't see his dad again until just a couple of weeks ago and, when he finally did, his dad had new wheels."

Jonathan responded to another fan during an Instagram Q&A on Sunday, who asked for his advice on "rough times".

Sharing a throwback photo from his hospital bed, Jonathan replied: "Stay in the moment."

He added: "Try not to project the future or concern yourself with the past.

"Take every day, every hour, every minute as it comes. Ask for help if you need it."
