BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt has been ripped to shreds by viewers as he 'crumbles' during his game show debut.

The 60-year-old journalist is best known for hosting BBC Breakfast every Thursday to Saturday.

Charlie has to do a mix of hard news and lighter segments on the programme, so viewers were keen to see what he would be like on House of Games.

Charlie was joined on the show this week by Steps singer Faye Tozer, comedian Eddie Kadi and Bargain Hunt's Natasha Raskin Sharp.

However, viewers were not impressed by Charlie's efforts and took to Twitter to comment.

One wrote: "Charlie Stayt is probably the thickest person that ever been on #HouseOfGames."

Another tweeted: "Charlie the pressure is getting to you pal. #houseofgames."

A third tweeted: "Charlie doing that middle aged thing, where 1982 doesn't seem that long ago #houseofgames."

Others took issue with his demeanour on the show, with one writing: "Does Charlie realise he's on a light entertainment quiz show and not interviewing a serial killer? He seems too serious #houseofgames."

A fellow House of Games fans tweeted: "Charlie Stayt's either a brilliant actor, or genuinely a bit of a k*** …"

Thankfully for Charlie, he wasn't the worst player of the episode, as by the end of the programme he had two points while Eddie only had one.

However, Natasha had an absolute blinder of a show, scoring 12 points with Faye in second with five.

It means the presenter had scored more on her own than the other three celebrities combined.

House of Games airs weekdays from 6pm on BBC Two.
