Fern Britton takes a swipe at chef ex-husband Phil Vickery after his new relationship with her best friend is revealed

THIS Morning star Fern Britton has appeared to make a dig at her ex Phil Vickery on Twitter after his new relationship with her best friend was revealed.

Her "innuendo" post comes after The Sun revealed TV chef Phil, 61, may have been dating her pal Lorraine Stanton, 58, for two years.

Photos of them snogging after a date in London were said to have shocked Fern, 65, who split from Phil in 2020.

Taking to Twitter last night, the popular presenter raved about a recipe she found in one of Mary Berry's cook books.

Fern typed: "Can’t beat ⁦@MaryBerrysFoods⁩ recipe for #CoqAuVin.

"Substituted onions for shallots and carrots for mushrooms @AuntBessies⁩ comfort dumplings popped on top. A supper drenched with innuendo."

Her followers enjoyed her post, and one teased: "We tried it once - the van wasn't big enough! (Les Dawson)."

While another replied: "Nice dumplins fern!"

A third understood her apparent swipe at her ex, who appeared in BBC's Ready Steady Cook over 200 times.

They penned: "Puts Ready, Steady Cook into the shade, doesn't it, Fern….." with Fern even showing her approval by liking their reply.

Fern regularly met with her bosom buddy Lorraine until late 2020, when they abruptly ended social media contact.

At the same time, Fern suggested it is “easier to forgive your enemies than your friends” in a Twitter post.

That was eight months after announcing her split from Phil.

Lorraine’s husband Simon, when asked about snaps of her snogging Phil in The Sun, said: “I don’t know when I’ll be in a position to speak to my wife about them.

“I’m not at home at the moment and neither is my wife. She hasn’t been for a while.”

Phil has yet to speak publicly about his relationship with Lorraine.
