The Olympian has since spoken of her time on The Masked Dancer

Olympian and former Strictly star Denise proved judges Davina McCall and Oti Mabuse right when she appeared from behind the mask.

After being unmasked, the 50-year-old admitted the best way that fans can try to guess the identity of a hidden celeb.

“I think clues are supposed to get easier because that’s the nature of the beast,” she said during a roundtable interview.

“They want everyone to sort of get close and really, really close and I think mine started to narrow it down quite a bit, you know?”

“You’ve probably just got to try and think more laterally to get some of the clues in order to get closer to the individuals.”

Denise also admitted that she threw loved ones “off the scent” after a close friend suspected she was competing – but mistook her for Stacey Dooley‘s character.

She added: “One of my friends was in the house a lot of time when I was possibly going in and out.

“And she was like, ‘I wonder what she’s up to,’ you know, because I was absolutely cagey.

“And then I think it was when Stacey Dooley went out, she said to me, ‘I thought you were Stacy Dooley’s character’ and I was like, Oh, really?’ and then she kind of went off the scent.”

Discussing her time on the show, Denise also admitted that she hadn’t even told her husband she was taking part.

She said: “I have to say it has been the most incredible, most crazy bonkers brilliant thing I’ve ever done – it’s been outstanding.

“That has been the most challenging part, not being able to say a word. My husband’s been saying to me, ‘Where have you been going?’ I’ve been the best student.”
