Casualty stars finally confirm when show will return to BBC One after string of schedule shake-ups

FANS of medical drama Casualty have been eager to find out if the iconic show will return after being off the air.

Casualty stars Elinor Lawless and William Beck have now revealed when they were likely to be back on screens.

The BBC One program is on another transmission break and viewers have grown worried and frustrated for the future of the soap.

But after multiple schedule changes, both actors confirmed Casualty will be on screens next month.

The pair, known for their roles as Dylan Keogh and Stevie Nash, spoke to Digital Spy at the Inside Soap Awards 2022.

"Obviously we're subject to schedule changes, there's a level of flexibility. But yes, we're back in November", said Elinor.

She then talked about what Stevie would be up to in upcoming episodes.

"For Stevie, the sparring with Dylan definitely continues and she gets in hot water with the acquaintance of a patient, that potentially leaves her in danger."

"That was was quite exciting to film."

William then reflected on his character's own hard times.

"There's a power struggle ahead for Dylan. We literally don't know which way it's going to go."

"Ultimately an important decision has to be made between Dylan and somebody else, with regards to his position at the hospital. He gets pretty torrid."

Concerns for Casualty first started to emerge when its sister show, Holby City, was cancelled.

The popular program was axed in 2021 after more than two decades on our screens, despite fans trying their best to save it.

A statement released at the time read: "We're very sorry to bring you the sad news that Holby City will come to an end in March next year, after 23 amazing years."

"We are so very grateful to all of Holby's wonderful cast, crew, writers, producers – and to our millions of loyal viewers and fans for being part of our show."

Holby City's last ever scenes were aired on March 29, 2022, marking the death of ice queen Jac Naylor from a brain tumour.

But while viewers were sad to see the series end, worries for Casualty were put to rest by a BBC representative in June, 2021.

"I can confirm Casualty will absolutely be remaining on air", they said.

A date is still to be revealed for Casualty's return on BBC One.
