What is The Traitors and how does it work?
AFTER its highly successful debut in November 2022, The Traitors is returning to BBC One with a second season.
As usual, the contestants will take on various challenges to amass funds for a prize pool of up to £120,000.

Hit Dutch reality show The Traitors is being brought to life in Britain for a second time by the BBC.
It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.
Get ready for savage twists and turns in a 12-part psychological game of deception.
The first season of the show had an average viewership of 5.4 million across all audiences.

Given its huge viewership, it's no surprise that another series was created.
The Traitors season two will start on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Episodes will air from Wednesday to Friday on BBC One.

How does The Traitors work?
The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in "the ultimate game of truth and deception".
The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.
While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).
Each night, the Traitors gather to "eliminate" one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition
Meanwhile, the traitors can be "banished" if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.
The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.
The prize sees the winner could get £120K.
How to apply to The Traitors
The BBC has confirmed that The Traitors will return for a third outing, and applications are now open.
The CEO of Studio Lambert, the production house that creates the show added: “We’re delighted a third series of The Traitors has been confirmed today ahead of the second series’ arrival on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
“The Traitors has been so warmly received by viewers, critics and award juries alike. Claudia and the team look forward to keeping audiences on the edge of their seats again with ever more thrilling missions and exceptional players competing in this gripping game of bluff and skill.”

Who is the presenter of The Traitors?
The show is hosted by Strictly's Claudia Winkleman.
Winkleman was confirmed to return to The Traitors when the show was officially renewed for a second season.
Speaking at the time, she said: "I can't wait to go back to the castle to watch people play the greatest game on television. I'm knitting a high funnel sweater immediately."
