Tearful Hamza Yassin says winning Strictly was 'the best thing that has ever happened'
Strictly champ Hamza Yassin said winning the dance competition was the "best thing that's ever happened to me" during an emotional night.
The 32-year-old beat Fleur East, Helen Skelton and Molly Rainford to become the 2022 champ with dance partner Jowita Przystal.
Shortly after being crowned champion, the wildlife cameraman said: "Words can't describe how I feel. I want to thank one person in particular Jowita, you are an angel disguised as a human being. That's what you are, you're amazing.
"Thank you to everyone out there for voting for us. This is the best thing that's ever happened to me. She told me the top of one mountain is the bottom of the next so keep climbing."
Meanwhile, his pro dance partner Jowita said: "I think anything is possible, he is the proof. He came with no dancing experience, with pigeon toes! And he made it. I'm so proud."
Larry Lamb not fazed by Strictly Christmas ratings
Larry Lamb, who played Mick Shipman in hit sitcom Gavin And Stacey, is not fazed by the prospect of competing on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, in spite of the massive audience it will receive.
Lamb said: "Somebody told me that the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special always blows the TV figures out of the water and I said 'yes, but it didn't blow Gavin And Stacey Christmas Special out did it?' and they said 'no, you're right it didn't blow it out at all'."
The Strictly Christmas Special airs on December 25.
Eastenders’ Larry Lamb on the strange world of Strictly
On competing on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, Larry Lamb said it is "like entering as a stranger into a world you already know".
Lamb, 75, dramatically departed Eastenders on Christmas Day 2009 when he was murdered by a mystery assassin who smashed him on the head with a bust of Queen Victoria.
He explained: "[Strictly's] like you when you first join EastEnders and you find yourself in The Queen Vic, you realise that you're kind of somewhere you've had a taste of for many years and then all of a sudden it's reality, and you have to take it all in and think 'wow!' it's like entering as a stranger into a world you already know."
Strictly ratings slump by 2million viewers during 2022 final, says BBC

The 2021 final peaked with 12.3 million watching
Shirley Ballas reveals her countryside dream
Strictly icon Shirley Ballas has revealed that one day she dreams of living in the countryside and owning her own farm.
She said: “One day I’d like to get the welly boots on and go on to a farm and clean up the animals – no makeup, welly boots and a big over-Mac.
“People see me on Strictly all glammed up but really deep down inside I love all the activities that people would never expect I would love.
“My daughter-in-law, she would like nothing more than a big farm and lots of animals. She’s very much about nature, very much about the world and saving it.
”She’s just a fantastic human being and I would never say no to living on a farm.”
Fleur ‘will not lose her power’ after Strictly final
Fleur East has said she is “not going to lose her power” despite being told to control it on occasion during her time on Strictly Come Dancing.
The singer and radio DJ, 35, has delivered a number of standout performances during her time on the BBC show, including receiving the only perfect score of 40 for the whole 2022 series.
She will now compete against three other couples in the show’s grand finale on Saturday for the coveted glitterball trophy with her professional dance partner Vito Coppola.
Reflecting on the judges’ comments on her power during the dance competition, she said: “I mean, I didn’t even know about this power until I came to Strictly. I’ve never heard the word so many times.
“I just think it’s something that gets me through life. I’ve faced so many challenges, losing my dad was the biggest challenge, Strictly is probably a close second to that. My power, I guess, is what gets me through, it’s like my superpower.
“I don’t know how I get through every day. People ask me ‘How are you doing your radio show? How are doing Strictly for three months and juggling all these things?’, and I guess that’s my inner strength, that is my power and I never want to lose that.”
She added: “I remember Motsi (Mabuse) saying ‘Maybe it’s just something we’re not used to seeing and don’t lose your power’.
“I think all of the constructive criticism from the judges, to be honest with you, has been tough, but it has made me who I am now and it’s made me the dancer that I am now, and I wouldn’t have been able to do some of the dances we’ve done without their feedback.
“It’s been tough love because, without their guidance, and without all of the notes they’ve given me, I wouldn’t be able to dance like I am now. So, I’m grateful for the whole experience and I’m not going to lose the power, I’ll keep the power.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s Helen Skelton in dress disaster during semi-finals
Strictly’s Helen Skelton had a huge wardrobe malfunction during her semi-final performance – and it was live on air.
Alongside partner Gorka Marquez, the pair performed the Argentine Tango to Here Comes The Rain Again by the Eurythmics.
But it appears that the TV presenter got so into the complex footwork of the dance, that she accidently ripped the hem of her sequin dress.
And it got worse for Helen – there was also a second accidental slit up the back of her blue sequined costume.
After her performance, Tess Daly couldn’t help but draw further attention to the wardrobe disaster as she asked: “Is your dress okay? I know it got caught a little in your heel?”

Taking to social media last night, Strictly fans revealed they think pro dancer Gorka will “quit” the hit show after missing out on the top prize.

Strictly ‘fix’ riddle
Some fans have been left fuming that Hamza won.
Hamza, 32, was announced the winner of the show alongside his professional dance partner Jowita Prystal on Saturday's final.
However, despite lifting the trophy at the end of the episode, the TV presenter failed to impress throughout the show.
He was picked up on with a couple of mistakes after his three dances, which ultimately left him at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Despite this, Hamza was voted the winner by the public – with the judges’ scores having no say on who would be crowned tonight.
Hooray for Helen
Helen may have missed out on winning Strictly, but she’ll be dancing all the way to the bank after a string of projects she has been lined up for.
A BBC insider last night said bosses want to make her the channel’s new “golden girl”.
She is being lined up for guest presenting slots on the BBC’s The One Show and Morning Live.
The source added: “Another option is her own show, a very outdoorsy action series.”
Away from TV, sales for her children’s clothing business Toy Breaker are said to have soared.
Intertalent chairman Jonathan Shalit said: “If managed well, she could see her earnings triple next year.”
Strictly dull
Strictly Come Dancing fans have all said the same thing about the finalist’s showdances – admitting they found them underwhelming.
The celebrities and their professional dance partners were given the chance to pick their routines for an impressive showdance.
“Bit disappointed by the show dance choreography and music choices. No real show-stopper,” one wrote.
Another chimed in: “None of those Strictly show dances felt like a showdance, in comparison to past years for me.”
“I think those 4 showdances were the most underwhelming dances they’ve ever had in a strictly final! Have they run out of budget?” a third added.
While a fourth said: “All the showdances were a bit underwhelming & didn’t really show their best skills.”
Perfect 10s
Fleur was the first celebrity of the night to get a perfect 40 for her Samba, before Helen took to the floor with her Jive.
Next up was their showdances, with all of them receiving mixed comments from the judges as well as some eight scores.
After the two routines, Fleur was top with the judges, while Hamza found himself at the bottom after making a couple of mistakes during his routine.
Hamza’s winning speech
Hamza had cried a number of times during the final, and it wasn’t long before he was in tears after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced his name alongside his pro partner Jowita Przystał.
Asked how he felt, he said: “Words can’t describe how I feel.”
He then turned to Jowita and said she was “an angel disguised as a human” before adding it was “the best thing that has ever happened” to him.
