I was strapped for cash after Emmerdale until I landed the Waterloo Road reboot, admits Adam Thomas
EMMERDALE star Adam Thomas opened up about his financial struggles before landing Waterloo Road reboot.
Since leaving Emmerdale in 2018, Adam revealed his biggest challenge was "going from job to job, not knowing necessarily where my next pay cheque is coming from."
He said he took a step back from acting to focus on business enterprises after leaving the ITV soap.
He told ! that the return of Waterloo Road "has helped a lot because it’s just brought stability into our lives.
"It was a year’s contract and I knew what money I was getting. I felt like I could breathe. But now I’m like, “What am I doing next?” I find it quite tough to be present and try and enjoy as much as I can instead of thinking about what’s coming next."
The actor, 34, will be reprising his role of Donte Charles in the BBC school-based drama that returns in January 2023.

There will also be some new faces such as actress Kym Marsh who will be playing dinner lady Nicky Walters.
Adam’s son Teddy and 14-year-old niece Scarlett – the eldest daughter of his soap star brother Ryan – will play his on-screen children.
Adam thought it was important that the infamous Donte and Chlo were still a couple.
He added: "I didn’t want them to go their separate ways because they were so tight. I don’t think the fans would have forgiven us!
"They basically grew up with them. They’re not only together but with kids and happily married. It’s the nice ending they deserved."
Will Adam ever return to Emmerdale?
He revealed: "They asked me and Danny Miller to go back for the 50th anniversary, but unfortunately I was busy doing this [Waterloo Road] and we couldn’t make it work.
"But, listen, I would always love to go back one day. Emmerdale will always be a huge part of my life.
