Strictly champion Hamza Yassin in new fix row as his dancing past is revealed
STRICTLY Come Dancing 2022 champion Hamza Yassin has become embroiled in another “fix” row after scooping the Glitter Ball trophy.
The BBC wildlife photographer, 32, won the BBC’s flagship series on Saturday, beating celebrity competitors Helen Skelton, Molly Rainford and Fleur East in the process.
Yet shortly prior to his Jerusalema Couple’s Choice routine with Strictly Come Dancing professional Jowita Przystal, which sealed the deal for their win, rumours about his dancing history swirled.
Nature-loving star Hamza has been described as having no dance experience – bar that of a Celtic Ceilidh.
Now new, clearer images of the much-loved star performing a Paso Doble at Bangor University Dance Club’s end-of-term show in 2010 have re-surfaced, reports .
They show Hamza dressed all in black and in full concentration as he completes the routine.
It came after he was seen in the university’s Beginners group performing a salsa.
The Sun has gone to BBC reps for comment.
A source told MirrorOnline: “For the BBC to continue insisting he is a complete novice even when faced with hard evidence in the form of a video of him performing an ‘advanced’ paso doble feels extremely misleading.
“Yet the mistruths were still being aired on Saturday’s show.”
They were referring to comments made by Hamza’s partner Jowita – who made history as the first female show to win Strictly in her first year.
After their success she told fans of Hamza: “He came here on the show with no dancing experience, with pigeon toes, and he made it.”
A spokesperson for Hamza said: “Whilst Hamza was studying Zoology with Conservation at Bangor university, he took part in two amateur dance performances, he was not part of an ‘advanced troupe of dancers’.
“He has never been professionally trained in dance.”
Hamza has previously confessed that the only dance experience he has had is Ceilidh.
He previously told : “I have rhythm, that’s from my African side, but the only dancing-with-a-partner I have done is at ceilidhs – Strip the Willow, the Gay Gordons, the Dashing White Sergeant.

“I mean it’s knackering, so it’s got to help with the stamina.
“I think dancing is coming more naturally to me than I thought it would, but it’s really just a lot of hard work from Jowita to get me where I need to be on a Saturday night.”
