Actor James Purefoy breaks down in tears for very surprising reason leaving This Morning’s Josie Gibson shocked
ACTOR James Purefoy broke down in tears on This Morning for a very surprising reason – which left Josie Gibson shocked.
The star appeared on the ITV show to talk about his upcoming appearance on the BBC drama Marie Antoinette.
James, 58, appeared on the sofa to chat to hosts Josie, 37, and Craig Doyle, 52.
But just seconds into their chat, James got very emotional.
James said: “I’m so happy to hear your voice and hear your accent on national television.
“It makes me a bit teary.”
As he wiped away his tear, he said: “It’s just lovely.”
“Well you’re a fellow Yeovil man yourself,” Josie said.
James replied: “I am indeed. That is where I come from, I hail from. I was born in Taunton.”
Craig said: “Oh my goodness! You’re actually tearing up,” as he handed him a tissue.
He later asked: “Why does that get you emotional?”
James told the presenters: “I don’t think you hear a west country accent very often.
“Those accents you often hear, west country accents, they are often stereotypical and not the ones that you want to be associated with.
“So when you hear it just as part of a normal day on television it’s just nice to hear.”
After the interview Craig told Josie that she had to record the answer phone message for James.
With a huge smile on his face, James said: “Honestly this accent. So beautiful.”
Josie replied: “Aw thank you James! You are so lovely.”
- This Morning airs on ITV weekdays 10am-12.30.
