ROYAL Variety Performance viewers slammed ITV after they aired an 'embarrassing' World Cup themed moment.
The ITV1 broadcast of the annual extravaganza featured a performance of Three Lions (Football's Coming Home) by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds.
The iconic song got a special Christmas-themed makeover, with the lads singing the lyrics: "Three lions on a sleigh..."
The show was recorded on December 1 at Royal Albert Hall, but was not broadcast until tonight (December 20), meaning many felt the performance had dated badly and should have been edited out.
Viewers felt the performance was "awkward" and "embarrassing" to watch, given England have since crashed out of the tournament, which finished in Qatar at the weekend.

One ranted on twitter: "Oh f*** sake! This is awful and embarrassing it’s not coming home is it?"
A second agreed, adding: "I’m convinced the song is a curse."
A third weighed in: "Well that songs backfired" followed by crying laughter emojis.
"Three lions was a bit of an odd placement," chimed in a fourth.

And a fifth simply wasn't a fan of the performance in general, fuming: "Three Lions on a Sleigh" F***ing hell. Even if England had won the World Cup, they would've been the worst rendition of that song I've ever seen."
A sixth agreed, calling it a "car crash" while another branded it "just tragic".
But it wasn't just the Three Lions song that viewers complained about during the two-hour broadcast.
Many commented on how host Lee Mack had changed his voice.
Fans of Lee, 54, flooded social media to complain that they thought the star had made his voice sound more "posh".
They speculated that he altered his accent in order to cater to the Royals, who watched on from the royal box.
Prince Edward and his wife Countess of Wessex, Sophie, represented the family at the coveted event this year.
Speaking directly to the Royals, fans couldn't help but speculate that Lee had changed his accent to suit them.
"Just me or has Lee Mack poshed his voice up slightly?" one Royal Variety viewer wrote to Twitter minutes into the show.
"I know the royals aren’t used to hearing us common folk talk but come on, Lee #RoyalVarietyPerformance."

"Why does Lee Mack’s voice sound different? Almost posh, like he’s putting it on," a second chimed in.
"Why does Lee Mack sound so different!?" a third asked, while a fourth said: "Sounds like he's got a cold."
