Alan Titchmarsh left baffled after his show is broadcast in rogue state North Korea
TELLY gardener Alan Titchmarsh’s green fingers have reached all the way into the secretive rogue state of North Korea.
The former Gardeners’ World and Ground Force favourite, 73, is baffled after hearing part of one of his programmes was broadcast in despotic Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un’s state.
Fifteen minutes of the BBC show Alan Titchmarsh’s Garden Secrets was featured on the regime’s KCTV service in capital Pyongyang.
It showed Alan at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, digging into 17th century gardening techniques, planting a leaf-shaped flower bed, a tree and creating a topiary cube.
It is not clear how the tips would help North Korean viewers, who regularly suffer from food shortages.
But Alan said: “I never imagined my programmes would reach North Korea, but hopefully the calming nature of British gardening will be well received there.”
