EMMERDALE fans have been left shocked as Cain Dingle lashed out in prison after his family ganged up against him.
Cain - played by Jeff Hordley - is currently locked up awaiting trial after taking the blame for shooting and killing Al Chapman last year.
However, it was actually his young son Kyle who shot the weapon, and Cain is desperate to protect him by any means possible.
But Kyle has ended up confessing his crime to the police, prompting Cain's wife Moira and and his estranged brother Caleb (Will Ash) to come up with a new plan.
After a meeting with his legal team, Caleb told Moira that if Kyle was charged they could enter a plea of "not guilty by way of acting in defense of another".
When Moira said that still made it sound like it was intentional, Caleb explained that they would argue Kyle fired the gun by accident but he picked it up because he was terrified for his dad.

Amy added the defense were putting a case together that could lead to Kyle going free if it proved there was not enough evidence, but only if Cain goes along with it.
Moira and Caleb then headed to the prison to see Cain, who was far from impressed by what they had to say, especially when his wife admitted going behind his back to let Caleb use his lawyers.
But Moira told him: "If Kyle ends up facing a murder charge they're the only way he stands a chance!"
As tensions rose, Caleb told his brother: "I know you don't like me and I know you don't trust me, but stop thinking about yourself for once and put your son first."

Cain was adamant his way was the right way, but his brother told him forensics were likely to prove that he was lying about who shot Al.
Cain continued to insist he was right, and accused Caleb of "gambling away" Kyle's freedom on "some defense plea".
He also accused Caleb of wanting "revenge" because "I kept him away from a mother who never even wanted him."
Caleb denied that was the case and added: "You can kick and scream all you want, because it's out of your hands now.
"If you can't act in your son's best interests, I'll do it for ya."
With that, Cain sprung from his chair and lunged at his sibling, grabbing him by the shoulders and demanding he stay away from his son.
As the alarms sounded, prison guards raced forward and pulled Cain off Caleb, before dragging him back to his cell as he shouted "I'm done with the pair of ya!"
Emmerdale viewers were quick to comment on the latest Dingle drama, with one writing on Twitter: "Think Caleb deliberately tried to wind Cain up...it worked. He's up to no good."
Another added: "Cain Dingle is an absolute idiot. Such a stipud character."
A third tweeted: "Cain and his temper…"
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
