Inside Lisa Marie Presley’s dark struggles including addiction, divorce & son Benjamin’s tragic suicide before her death
LISA Marie Presley battled dark demons for years before her sudden death at just 54.
The sole child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley lived a troubled life, and struggled with addiction issues, four divorces and the tragic death of her son Benjamin.
She lived a troubled life that led up to her tragic death at 54.
The songstress and sole heir to the Elvis Presley estate was just nine years old when her superstar dad died suddenly in 1977 aged 42.
He and Priscilla were already divorced by that point, and the young Lisa Marie was living between Los Angeles with her mother and Graceland with her father.
Priscilla began dating actor Michael Edwards shortly after, who reportedly sexually abused Lisa Marie in her room when she was between the ages of 12 and 15.
DIVORCE DRAMAS
Now 54, Lisa Marie's adult life has been equally as tough, and she has been married four times, welcoming children Riley and Benjamin with her first husband Danny Keough.
They split in 1994, and she was then married to Michael Jackson and Nicholas Cage for two years each before settling down with Michael Lockwood in 2006.
CAUGHT IN A TRAP
Sadly for Lisa Marie, her most recent divorce has been the messiest as she and Michael split in 2016.
The exes, who share twin girls Finley and Vivienne, were locked in a nasty custody battle with a month-long court showdown.

The bitter divorce came at an especially tough time for Lisa Marie because her eldest son Benjamin had died by suicide just the year before.
MY BOY
Elvis’ grandson died at 27 with a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a party for his girlfriend’s birthday at his mother’s home in Calabasas on July 12, 2020.
An autopsy report obtained by The U.S. Sun confirmed the cause of death was a shotgun wound and the manner of death was ruled as suicide.
Ben tested positive for alcohol and cocaine at the time of his death, according to the report.
Lisa Marie revealed the "depth of the pain is suffocating" following his suicide in a heartbreaking Instagram post on what would have been his 28th birthday the following year.
IT HURTS ME
During her lengthy divorce from Michael, Lisa Marie also fell into the grips of substance abuse.
In 2016, she checked herself into rehab for addiction to prescription pills.
It wasn't the first time the public was aware of her drug problems.
In a 2003 interview she told People: "[I used] cocaine, sedatives, pot and drinking — all at the same time. I just couldn’t be sober… I don’t know how I lived through it.”
In 2008, she became addicted to opioids after she was prescribed them by her doctor following the birth of her and Michael's children Vivienne and Finley.
"It only took a short-term prescription of opioids in the hospital for me to feel the need to keep taking them," she revealed in the foreword for Harry Nelson's 2019 book The United States of Opioids: A Prescription for Liberating a Nation in Pain.
"[It's] a difficult path to overcome this dependence, and to put my life back together," she added.
In October 2022, Michael remarried with his and Lisa's daughters attending the ceremony after the court ruled a 50/50 custody agreement.
HEALTH CRISIS
The latest dark episode in Lisa Marie's life came just this Thursday as she went into cardiac arrest at her Calabasas home.
Paramedics performed CPR on the spot before rushing her to hospital.
Sadly, Priscilla revealed Lisa Marie died following the sudden medical crisis.
