Rebekah, the wife of Leicester City striker Jamie, 36, grew up in the religion until she was a teenager, but struggled with its strict rules.

The new show will see her go up and down the country interviewing existing and former members of Britain’s Jehovah’s Witness community.

A source said: “Rebekah has been inundated with TV offers, but turned down everything to do with the Wagatha Christie trial as she wants to move on.

“She has decided to make this documentary as it’s completely different and a topic she cares strongly about.

“It could be the start of a new career move for her and she's excited.”

Opening up about her experience with the religion Rebekah, who has appeared on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Dancing On Ice, said: “I felt alienated from the other kids

“It was definitely an opportunity for other kids to point the finger and go, “Oh you got nothing!” Christmas Day we used to go knocking on doors.

“There was nothing, Christmas didn’t exist as did birthdays, it was tough as a child.”
