Coronation Street’s Jude Riordan reveals epic career shake-up with TV veteran dad

JUDE Riordan has been involved in plenty of explosive storylines during his time in the cobbles.

The Coronation Street star announced a massive change in his career and his "co-star" father will be helping him out.

From losing his mother Natasha to confronting her killer Harvey Gaskell, Sam Blakeman has been thrown into a rollercoaster of emotions since his first Corrie arrival.

Off-screen, eleven-year-old soap star Jude Riordan is set for a shake-up of his own, as he recently announced on his Twitter account, followed by 16k fans.

The young actor revealed he was happy to have been given the opportunity to help direct episodes of the Manchester-based ITV drama

He'll be assisting his TV director father Paul Riordan, who is not only known for his work on Corrie but has also contributed to other staples on the box including Emmerdale and Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

Jude broke the news with a snap of the pair sharing a loving embrace backstage on social media.

"My Dad's Corrie Eps this week", he penned as a caption alongside a director's clapper board emoji.

Paul Riordan has directed a handful of Coronation Street instalments in 2021 and is back behind the camera for the second time, proving Jude isn't the only talented member in his family.

Jude was surely happy to see his and his father's talents being celebrated by his followers.

One of them commented: "Looking forward to seeing this! I hope you gave your dad a few tips Jude" as another responded: "What a little star you are Jude."

A third added: "Love this photo of you and your dad, you’re both very talented."

And a fourth wrote: ";Ace pic. He must be soooo proud of you."

The father-son duo have already worked together on a short film.

Jude has thus already shared his pride at working with his father.

Both him and Paul recently posed for a snap, looking proud and all smiles with former Casualty actor Michael Stevenson.

"And that's a wrap on my first short film Something Missing", Jude captioned at the time.

"This is a story very close to our hearts", he added.

Meanwhile, times are more trouble for Jude's Corrie alter ego Sam.

The youngster will be trapped in a shooting horror at the Bistro as Damon Hay's criminal activities put his family in danger.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
