EastEnders fans convinced they know who Linda Carter called about the Queen Vic
LINDA Carter has received two offers to buy Mick Carter’s half of The Vic.
Yet the landlady called a mystery person, urging them to make an offer and sending EastEnders fans into a frenzy.
A new chapter is opening up to the beloved character portrayed by Kellie Bright following Mick’s disappearance at sea.
It all began when her best pal and former Vic landlady Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) offered to buy her former husband’s half of the iconic pub.
However, this week, a counter-offer emerged as Nish and Suki Panesar (played respectively by Navin Chowdhry and Balvinder Sopal) showed interest.
Since then, and as the three prospective buyers bickered away, Linda has been at a loss – until she received some helpful words from Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker).
The Walford veteran suggested that Linda go with “somebody who has the Panesars’ business acumen but somebody who’s not going to mess with the way” she does things.
Simply put, Linda needs to turn to somebody she can completely trust as she doesn’t seem keen for either Sharon nor the Panesars to get their hands on her pub.
Patrick’s words seemed to resonate with Linda as, in later scenes aired last night on BBC One, she made a phone call to a mystery person.
“I’ve got two offers on the table who are keen, but if you can come up with the cash then I will ditch them and go with you,” she told the person on the other end of the line.
Linda added: “Well, just think about it, in a few months we could be running this place together.”
Fans of the London-based drama have since taken to a , eager to find out who Linda had called and they’ve come with a plethora of theories.
One hoped Linda phoned her mother Elaine, writing: “I really hope she’s offering it to her Mum Elaine!”
“She was a strong character in her previous short stints and apart from her babies Linda is isolated family wise. It makes sense to expand her side of the family.”
“Her mum runs pubs and it would also give someone Shirley to butt heads with on her return.”
In late 2021, Linda was found by Janine Butcher in her mother’s pub making it clear that her ability to run a business is a family affair – much like the Vic has been in recent years with the Carters at the helm.
Another soap fan suggested Linda could have called former lover Max Branning.
“It could well be, or it could be Shirley. Or Max”, they commented.
A third viewer quickly ruled out Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) due to her recent bonding with rapist son Dean Wicks.
They threw another surprising, but not unlikely, name into the mix instead.
“It’s not going to be Shirley after Linda thinking she’s betrayed her by reuniting with Dean. It’s got to be someone with money and business acumen and someone that Linda trusts. I know they’ve established a friendship with Linda and Alfie but he doesn’t have any money so it can’t be him. I think it might be Kathy.”
“It could be Kathy but she would have to sell either the Albert or the Café unless she gets her money back from her Peter”, another viewer argued.
One fan jumped in: “It could be a family member we have not heard about before. She is isolated now all her adult children have left and Mick has gone so it would make sense to bring in some new family for her.”
“I don’t think she would trust Max so not him. Could be Phil.”

Another forum user suggested Linda could have called long-standing barmaid Tracey (Jane Slaughter) who has also been working at The Albert for several years.
A handful of viewers turned their sights to Linda’s adult children, one of them questioning: “Maybe Johnny? Possibly he’s done well for himself and is in a position to invest.”
“She implied on the call that if the person could invest they could run it together so its someone she trusts to work with her as well as come up with the money. I think it’s most likely to be Lee out of her children”, another penned.
Overall, many fans seemed to agree Elaine would be a good choice for Linda.
“I like the idea of Elaine running the pub with Linda. She has echoes of Peggy”, one wrote as another added: “I wouldn’t mind Elaine returning.”
Soon enough, Alfie Moon’s name appeared in their list of speculations as viewers expect him to find love again with Linda.
Another theory soon emerged: “Of all the current characters the only one I can realistically think of is Jack. Unless Linda goes straight to Phil and Kat but that seems so unlikely. Nobody else has that sort of money.”
Could any of these speculations be correct?
How will Sharon react?
