Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips reveals ‘massive’ pregnancy regret after baby’s dad is arrested
LOVE Island’s Shaughna Phillips has revealed her “massive” regret during pregnancy.
The 28-year-old – who is to be a single mum following her boyfriend’s arrest – says she wishes she’d found out her unborn baby’s gender.
Shaughna is facing giving birth alone after her boyfriend Billy Webb, 29, was charged with drug offences.
The couple announced Shaughna’s pregnancy last October in an emotional Instagram post, vowing to make the arrival of their child “our greatest chapter yet”.
Now, Shaughna has opened up about her thoughts ahead of the birth, telling Magazine: “That incentive to push when giving birth was one of the deciding factors in not finding out the baby’s gender – so many people have said to me it helps not knowing!
“I’m not sure I made the right choice by deciding not to find out the gender. It’s not that it’s stopped me connecting to the baby, but I definitely think if I knew what they are, it would feel a lot more personal. I would prefer to be able to say “my daughter” or “my son”. At the moment, I still refer to the baby as ‘it’ or sometimes ‘he’, just by default.”
Shaughna is preparing to go for a scan on her own for the first time soon.
She says she’s tempted to find out the gender and keep it secret.
But she adds: “Everyone in my family – including my own mum! – have threatened to disown me if I find out now, but I feel like, for my own soul, I need to know.”
