THE Only Way Is Essex has been renewed for a record 32nd series, cementing its place as Britain’s longest running reality show.

Another instalment has been green lit by ITVBe bosses, taking the show up to 2024.

The cast, including James Lock and Amber Turner, are busy filming in tropical Thailand for the next series but fans had been concerned interest was waning after the channel chose not to deliver a Christmas special for the first time in four years.

However the future of the show has now been confirmed.

A source said: “Towie is still very much the heart of ITVBe, there are no plans to retire it.

“The series is one of the channel’s most talked about brands and most popular shows for 16 to 34-year-olds, ITVBe’s main demographic.”

Towie has produced at least two series a year since it began in 2010, at its peak averaging 1.8million viewers.

In 2011 the scripted reality programme won the Audience Award at the TV BAFTAs.

It comes as a number of similar shows have fallen by the wayside.

Question marks hang over Geordie Shore’s future, whilst a whole raft of reality, dating and quiz shows have recently been chopped.

Last week The Sun revealed You’ve Been Framed has been axed after 33 years, and another beloved viewer favourite, Changing Rooms, was dumped by Channel 4.

Paddy McGuinness’ I Can See Your Voice didn’t work out for ITV1 nor Katherine Ryan’s Ready To Mingle on ITV2.

Channel 4 also scrapped Joel Dommett’s The Love Trap after one series.

Meanwhile Towie’s cast are making sure the next series delivers maximum drama.

The worst feud in the history of the show is said to have erupted in Thailand.

Things kicked off in the hotel lobby after a “frosty” flight out to Asia and a source told The Sun there was “a lot of drama,” with Chloe Brockett and Jordan Brook clashing “in a big way.”

They added: “Chloe has been involved but this time she had a reason to kick off and all will become clear as filming rumbles on.

“There is no love lost between Junaid and Amber either – the pair are taking their dislike to the next level and let their feelings be crystal clear.

“To say the atmosphere in Thailand is frosty is a huge understatement. There are two camps in the cast opening up and a big divide is emerging.

“It is the worst in terms of atmosphere that has ever been seen. Amber and Junaid are on very rocky ground, and even girl band are not unscathed.”

The trip started with drama after it was reported that the stars and producers were left "scrambling around" after their flights were suddenly cancelled without warning.
