The beloved vet portrayed by Dominic Brunt watched his world crumble when he found out that his wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) had an affair with the late Al Chapman.

In recent scenes, Paddy's mental health was at an all-time low and, after rushing out of the Dales, he hatched a plan to end his own life.

His best pal Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and his father Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) are aware that it's a long road ahead until Paddy fully recovers in scenes due to air on ITV next week.

However, a new beginning is seemingly on the horizon for Paddy as he reveals to them that he's arranged to see a therapist.

More Emmerdale

The following day, Marlon tries to stay hopeful and hides his desperation for his friend to seek further professional help.

He's relieved to hear Paddy calling another counselling service - until it's revealed that he has a two week wait before he can see anybody.

A concerned Marlon struggles to give Paddy the space he craves and the latter becomes irritated.

In later scenes, Marlon is gutted to see that he can't get through to Paddy at all and he confides his fears in Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and Jimmy King (Nick Miles).

Chas informs Marlon that women are generally better at dealing with their emotions than men as Jimmy admits the community of the pub is his own therapy.

Marlon gets an idea and in a first for the Yorkshire-based drama, one instalment airing next week will only include the male cast.

The Woolpack welcomes the lads during a lock-in as they stay behind in the pub late one evening.
