The maths whizz looked sensational as she wore a pale blue knitted bodycon dress which featured cream horizontal stripes.

The close fitting nature of the garment and the stripes highlighted her fantastic figure as she chatted to host Colin Murray and provided the contestants with the letters and numbers for each game.

Colin opened the show by discussing the anniversary of the oldest message in a bottle, which was found five years ago.

It was tossed over the side of a German ship in 1886, and Colin asked Rachel what her message would be if she through one overboard.

The football fan replied: "You'd need something with longevity wouldn't you? So I'd probably write 'Glory, Glory Man United'."

However, her comment aired at a particularly sensitive time for Man Utd fans, after they were thrashed 7-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.

Countdown viewers couldn't help but comment, with one writing on Twitter: "No "glory, glory Man Utd" in your message in a bottle after yesterday's result."

Another shared a screenshot of the score and added: "Wonder how Rachel’s feeling about yesterday".

Rachel took to Twitter to acknowledge the situation as well, writing: "Announcement: Today’s episode of @C4Countdown was filmed before yesterday’s tragedy (at Anfield).

"Today is a public day of mourning in Manchester and I could never have smiled freely with @ColinMurray had it not been prerecorded. Thoughts and prayers to all affected."

Her followers were quick to reply, with one writing: "@RachelRileyRR i knew @ColinMurray would be happy with the score. It's just banter between the 2 of you. That's the good thing about @C4Countdown."

Another added: "I feel your pain Rachel , its was extremely hard to watch.. nevermind utd will bounce back."

Countdown airs weekdays at 2.10pm on Channel 4.
