AMAZON Prime viewers have been left terrified by horror film The Wailing.

The tense film might have come out years ago but it’s risen to number two on the streaming service in recent weeks.

In the movie a foreigner's mysterious appearance in a village causes suspicion among locals which turns to hysteria when people begin brutally killing each other for no reason.

The South Korean horror stars Kwak Do-won, Jang So-yeon and Kang-gook Son.

Taking to Twitter to discuss the film, one person commented: “If you like the concept of the conjuring but you were disappointed by the execution go watch the wailing! Truly horrific and disgusting I’m sure if it was an English movie it would be regarded as a landmark in horror. It’s on Amazon Prime.”

A second said: "The Wailing was extraordinary! I was on the edge of my seat, didn't know where it was going till the very end!  Highly recommend it!  It's on Amazon Prime!!”

While a third added: “Started #TheWailing, 10 minutes in and I'm already scared. in a VERY good way.”

“Scared the heck out of myself by watching #TheWailing,” said a fourth.

The Wailing was first released in South Korea on May 12, 2016, before being shown at Cannes Film Festival and then in the United States.

It was released on Netflix but has since been taken off.
